The unique score of this unusual new production blends elements
of musical theatre, opera, and cabaret to create an unforgettable
night out characterised by burlesque ironic sincerity, an iconic
lead character, and genre-defying music voiced by incredible crossover
singers.
A ‘feel-good tragedy’, the story of the show chronicles the final
chapters in the life of Betsy Cohen, a stir-crazy Turkish woman
whose husband’s extramarital affair drives her over the edge into
a dangerous insanity... Through her rage, grief, and vengeance,
she finds her long-lost strength of character which ultimately eats
her alive!
Certainly not your average musical, this highly entertaining fresh
piece of new theatre is a genre-defying feel-good tragedy packed
with all your favourite elements of opera, musical theatre, cabaret
and even burlesque.'
The show has already been staged twice in London and once in concert
form at the Stockholm Pride festival 2007, all to rapturous audience
approval. This third production is the most developed version so
far, and promises to be the best yet!
Writers Giles Howe and Katy Lipson have just themselves finished
performing in the musical Chess at the Royal Albert
Hall, and Katy was recently assistant musical director of Hot
Flush the No 1 UK Tour. The show stars gold-selling vocalist
Magoria Edler (The Divine Child) as Betsy Cohen, Silje
Lervik Aarflot, Anthony Flaum, and Aaron Bolton.
