The Rosemary Branch The Rosemary Branch

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Graduates of 2006 present

Love and Understanding

by Joe Penhall
directed by Sonia Fraser
designed by Helen Goddard

Neal and Rachel are doctors, Richie also has an interest in drugs. Neal's scared of change, Richie sees a chance and Rachel's got a choice.

Originally premiered at the Bush Theatre in 1997, Love and Understanding was Penhall's fourth play, predating his best known work Blue Orange by three years. It is a modern classic that speaks, (as Tynan said of Look Back in Anger) with the voice of its generation.
